Disasters do happen!
In July 2005 the unit next door to us burned to the ground and left us without a building and severe damage to furniture, archives and our IT infrastructure.
We were able to activate our DR plan and had an emergency server up and running within 4 hours. Would you be able to do the same in such an emergency?
What services can we offer you to help?
1. Locate a single spare server in our DR centre and have this pre-loaded with your minimum critical system. You can visit the office during normal working hours to update this server as often as you like, or install a broadband line and do it remotely. We would also recommend you make use of the Sicon Internet backup facility to keep a backup of critical system off site.
2. Build an entire mirror system in our DR Centre and backup to it every night or even during the day via a VPN connection.
3. Simply pay a retainer to ensure that in a disaster situation that takes out your office and the surrounding area that you get priority in taking up the space available in the DR centre.
Disaster Recovery (DR) facilities
Our DR facility includes a secure air conditioned room with racking space and a dedicated safe for each client.
The main DR room has seating space for 20-30 people in a single 1,100 sq ft office with kitchen and toilet facilities.
We keep in stock at all time 20 PC's and flat screen, 20 telephones and various accesories to ensure we can cater for an emergency situation.
Our Telephone system can cater for 50 additional extenions, including IP handsets that can be located at homes and other available places of work. Soft phones are also available allowing users to run laptops or PC's with a headset as a telephone.
Occupancy, technical services and equipment provided during a disaster are charged in addition to the contract price paid. You should ensure that you have 'increased cost of working insurance cover' to provide for these additional costs.
Typical DR Plan
When you take out a DR plan contract with Sicon you will be issued with an emergency contact card. This is a 24hr service.
We will meet you at our office and issue keys and access codes to enable you on-going access to the building.
Our technical services team will assist you in any IT infrastructure work that you need, including the supply of new equipment, collection of e-mail, restore of latest backup data, etc
We will re-route your telephone numbers to our telephone system and direct them to extensions in the DR facility room.
You should be in a position to answer calls and recieve e-mail within a maximum of 1 day.
