Getting Started with the Sicon Fixed Assets Module

 To get this product up and running quickly and effectively here are some suggestions that you might like to consider in your planning;

Where are your assets?

  • If your assets are currently in an Excel Spreadsheet you can import your assets into the Fixed Assets module. The import template can be found in the downloads section.
  • If your assets are in Sage Line 100 we provide an Excel template to extract the data from Line 100 using the Sage Line132 ODBC driver. Once in a spreadsheet it can be tidied and imported.
  • If you do not have your data in a system yet you can either enter them directly into the Fixed Assets module manually or complete the spreadsheet and import them. The benefit of the import is that elements such as locations, employees, categories and sub-categories will be created for you during the import process.

 What depreciation method should you use?

  • Generally there are fixed rules that apply to depreciation methods for specific types of asset. You should refer to your accountant for advice on the type, life or depreciation percentage to use for each type of asset.
  • The product supports Straight Line, Reducing Balance and Sum of Digits depreciation methods.
