Sicon Release Policy

Sicon v22.1 Release Policy

The latest ‘full release’ version of Sicon modules is Sicon v22.1.

Sicon v22.1 is closed to any new features / changes to functionality, any development performed and released in a hotfix will be for bug fixes only. New features are instead being written into our next scheduled release – Sicon v25.

The release cycle for Sicon v22.1 is for hotfixes (if required) to be released every 2 weeks.

Previously (up to and including the 07.05.2025 release) each 2 weekly hotfix was uploaded to our Auto Installer app. which could be used to easily install / upgrade Sicon modules.

Subsequent hotfixes however are not being uploaded to the Auto Installer, they will instead be provided only to the customers who reported the bug that the fix is being released for.

Sicon v25 Release Policy

Sicon v25 will have a different release schedule to Sicon v22.1. New iterations will be released in approximately 8 week intervals, with no hotfixes available between these dates.

Each iteration will include;

  • new features added; and
  • bug fixes reported and fixed from the previous iteration.

For Sicon v25, we are planning following release schedule (please note, this could be subject to change):

  • 1 – 04/06/25
  • 2 – 30/07/25
  • 3 – 24/09/25

Each Sicon v25 iteration will involve:

  • 4 sprints of development and ongoing testing (covering new features, and resolution of any bugs found in previous iteration).
  • 1 dedicated sprint of full regression testing.
  • Full documentation of any new features via:
    • New Features Guide.
    • Updated Help & User Guide.
    • Release Notes.

Customers accepting a Sicon v25 version should be made aware of the different (slower) release cycle than Sicon v22.1. In a worst case scenario, this could involve a Customer having to wait more than 8 weeks for a bug fix. If the Customer / End User is unhappy with this schedule, we would advise remaining on Sicon v22.1 until the release of Sicon v26.

Customers should also be made aware that each release of Sicon v25 will have new features / changes to functionality, i.e. Sicon v25.1 will have features that weren’t in the last release of Sicon v22.1; Sicon v25.2 will have new features that weren’t in Sicon v25.1. Therefore, applying an update to Sicon v25 should be treated differently to applying an update to Sicon v22.1 (updates for which will have included bug fixes only).

Sicon v26 Release Policy

Sicon v26 is anticipated for release in December 2025.

On launch of Sicon v26, we will revert to similar policy as for Sicon v22.1:

  • 2 weekly release cycle
  • Each release (hotfix) to include bug fixes only
  • No new features / changes to functionality applied via a hotfix – instead all new development will be pushed into the following release (Sicon v27).

Each Sicon v26 release will be published on our Auto Installer.

Sicon Hub Expense Approval Release Policy

The Sicon Hub is our new platform for releasing browser based modules.

The first module to be released on the Sicon Hub will be Expense Approval, which is designed as a replacement to the Expenses module in our current Sicon Approvals application.

There will be no separate app for Hub Expense Approval, instead it is a responsive web app, with a single code base to be accessed via a browser that will adapt dynamically to the device size and orientation.

Sicon Hub Expense Approval will work alongside both Sicon v22.1 and Sicon v25 (from v25.2 onwards) of our other Sicon Modules and will need to be upgraded alongside all other Sicon Modules. As such, the release / hotfix cycle for Sicon Hub Expenses Approval will mirror the release cycle of the version number of any other Sicon modules;

  • If a standalone install (no other Sicon modules); or if other modules are on Sicon v22.1, there will be a 2 weekly hotfix release.
  • If installed alongside Sicon v25 (from v25.2 onward) of other Sicon modules, 8 weekly release cycle (as documented in the Sicon v25 Release Policy).

Sicon Hub Expense Approval can be installed, and work alongside, our existing Sicon Approvals application. Any expenses entered into the Sicon Hub Expense Approval module will be able to be viewed / approved in Sicon Approvals, and vice versa.

Upon installation of Sicon Hub Expense Approval, it is our intention that all users of Expense Approval would switch over to using the Sicon Hub module, rather than users being split across the two apps. The old Sicon Approvals module should be seen only as a “fall back” option. The Customer should be able to revert to using the old module at any time if they hit any insurmountable problems with the new app.

The other modules within Sicon Approvals (Invoices, Requisitions, Holidays, HR, Timesheets and Sales Orders) have not yet been written in the Sicon Hub. For Customers with multiple approvals modules (Expenses being one of them), they would move to the Sicon Hub for Expense Approval only and continue to use the Sicon Approvals App for the other modules.
