Second Chance Ltd drive their warehouse team to improve workflows and move away from paper based processes with Sicon Barcoding & Warehousing

Second Chance had been using Sage 200 since 2007 and all inputs were based off paperwork that had to be manually completed by staff to feed information into the system. To grow the business and become more efficient they needed a solution that worked alongside their current Sage 200 system.

A number of standalone barcoding and warehousing solutions were presented to them, but these had limitations, specifically the lack of Sage 200 integrations and the complexities surrounding their unique product of golf balls, which they sort, grade and pack.

The Solution – Sicon Barcoding & Warehousing with Sicon Works Order Processing

Moving away from a paper based solution was a high priority for Second Chance, along with being able to manage complex product types and specific stock control requirements. They needed to find a product that integrated with their existing Sage 200 platform and our Barcoding & Warehousing addition for Sage 200 was the perfect solution; providing them with a real-time understanding of stock and order processing procedures, whilst significantly reducing manual processing and paper based storage.

Sicon additions for Sage 200 provided a range of benefits for Second Chance:

  • Stock Shortage Transfers | Second Chance has various warehouses in different countries. With the ‘Stock Shortage Transfers’ functionality within Sicon Barcoding & Warehousing, they were able to move stock between warehouses seamlessly and with greater visibility than before.
  • Stock Transfer Improvements | Stock Transfers were previously done via pen and paper, and updated ad-hoc on Sage 200. With a handheld for all warehouse staff, it has made the job of moving stock smoother and more consistent. In addition, the Sicon solution has provided the ability to identify mispicks or issues with stock moves more quickly due to user accountability.
  • Real-time Stock Level Accuracy | With the Sicon solutions in place, Second Chance have an improved view of their current stock position and a much greater understanding of stock levels than before, enabling more informed business decisions with the ability to drill down into a per unit level to analyse product costs, sell rates and profitability.
  • Internal System Improvements | Internal processes have been improved, providing a wider visibility of what products cost, who they are selling them to and for what price, where previously they had very little visibility on this.
  • Streamlined Purchase Order Processing | Receiving containers and deliveries can be done on the handheld and has allowed greater visibility into what products are being processed through the business.
  • Solution for Overselling | Using the Sicon Works Order Processing solution has given a greater degree of visibility on what products have been allocated, which has solved the issue of overselling.
