12752 – Changing WO Number changes Nominal references
Version Reported In
Sicon Manufacturing v.211.0.81
Detailed Description
If a Works Order number is changed mid-way through postings, it impacts the future reference used on the nominal ledger postings, which in turn can cause confusion if analysing the nominal ledger by Works Order number.
Take the example below of a part-issued works order created manually, currently using WO00000063. £30.00 of components have been issued which can be seen on the WIP summary within the works order, and within accounting system manager audit trail list against URN 3110.
If the Works Order number is subsequently updated (in this example, preallocated to a Sales Order, and the WO setting to use the SO number is enabled), future postings will change to use the new reference. In this example, the WO was preallocated to line one of SO 388, so the new Works Order number is 388-001. When the remaining components are issued, they are referencing the new number.
Impact: Low
- Urgency | Ability to work not affected; inconvenient.
- Impact | Single user affected.
Workaround
The Work In Progress (WIP) account still works as expected. Once the works order is fully booked in, the WIP clears down (similarly, if the components are subsequently un-issued), so really this is just a visual scenario to be aware of.
It may be helpful to for sites who may be doing more thorough analysis of the WIP nominal, and there appears to be a discrepancy over a Works Order number that seemingly no longer exists. Using the WIP Summary tab on the Works Order to view the transactions is advised when tracking the nominal postings of a specific works order.
