16275 – Error when creating Quote for a company with a long Postal Name

Detailed Description

There is an intermittent issue affecting the creation of quotations within CRM. When a Company has a long Postal Address and you then try to create a quotation for this account, an error can appear. This seems to be intermittent and only affecting a subset of sites.

To recreate the issue:
1. Log into Sage 200
2. If you go to Sicon CRM > Company Search > Find a company > Amend the Account > Select the Address Tab.

3. Amend the default address and make the Postal Name over around 100 characters long.

4. Now, go to Opportunities> Opportunity Search.

5. Find/Create and opportunity for the company.

6. Amend the opportunity > edit and navigate to Quotes & Orders tab

7. Click ‘new quote’ button and error appears.

Impact: Low

• Urgency | Ability to work not affected; workaround available.
• Impact | Single user affected.

Workaround

If you receive this error message, we recommend you reduce the number of characters within the Post Address on the Company record; this will then allow you to then create SOP documents for the customer’s account (in step 3 above). Alternatively, you could remove the postal name all together.
